Splendid Plans

Monday, October 26, 2015

Last week a friend emailed about a trip to Spain in the spring. I laughed when I read the email because there is no way I can make a trip to Spain in the spring. It's impossible. Just like so many other things are impossible...until they somehow take shape and form into reality. I thought about this when I read this quote attributed (at least partly) to Goethe on Swissmiss. (It has a fascinating origin.)
"...[T]here is one elementary truth that ignorance of which kills countless ideas and splendid plans: that the moment one definitely commits oneself, then Providence moves too."
There are times when ideas, those "splendid plans" do not take shape, are not breathed into being even with commitment and work, but over and over again I've seen a kind of reordering of resources that makes the impossible possible. It's good to be reminded of this in those stuckest of stuck moments.

Along the same line, Five Goals.
